Your Dictionary
Hey Everybody
How are you , I hope you are fine & in good health & wealth
I was thinking of making use of this space in learning more English Vocabulary.....
yesterday, my cousin called me!!! she asked me a question(?)
-"Could you please tell me the difference between particularly and in particular?"
so, I had to go back to the dictionary & find out what`s the difference!!
& the answer is .....................
Particular is an adjective.
He had no particular preference for dinner. [modifies preference]
Particularly is an adverb
I don’t particularlly like squash.[modiifes like.
Particular can be a noun in the plural.
We discussed the particulars of the ceremony.
In partucular is an idiom meaning specifically.
Help us out here & share with us your words
I have to go now but I`m coming back soon
Re: Your Dictionary
Clever way to gain new words!
I like it.
All right ... since some people suspect that I read the dictionary because of the words that I sometimes use in my writings ... it would be a good chance to show off & expand my ego.
Here are some words that I have come across while "reading the dictionary" as some would like to think ...
~ Evanescence >>> to disappear like vapor
the process of vanishing or fading away
the event of fading and gradually vanishing from sight
example: "the evanescence of the morning mist"
~ Flabbergasted >>> to cause to be overcome with astonishment; astound
synonym: dumbfounded
~ Incarcerate >>> to put into jail
to shut in; confine
example: "the murderer was incarcerated for the rest of his life"
synonym: imprison
~ Lacrimosa >>> a Latin word which means "weeping" or "moving" or "flowing of tears" or "full of tears"
Now here is a word that I particulary love ... it's so innovative.
I've heard it once on an online interview with a professor who was talking about black holes in space.
He specifically said, and I quote, "What's good about English is that it has words for ways to die. Add ((spaghettification)) to it".
~ Spaghettification >>> this is how he explained it ...
it is known that black holes suck everything in their path.
they are extremely powerful that they even suck TIME! so if you are in space and you get too close to a black hole ... imagine what will happen to you ...
you will expand in such a way that you will turn into little minute particles as the black hole is sucking you. in other words ... you become streached like a spaghetti!!
These are 2 sites which will be of great source for new words:

I'll be posting some new words as soon as I can.
Enjoy expanding your knowledge!!
